The Phi Beta Kappa Society

The Phi Beta Kappa Society, founded in 1776 at the College of William and Mary. Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and most prestigious academic honor society to which students majoring in the liberal arts and sciences may be elected. Each year, Phi Beta Kappa elects over 15,000 new members from its 270 chapters across the United States. The Society has developed into the nation's leading advocate for the liberal arts and sciences at the undergraduate level. Phi Beta Kappa's emblem is a golden key, which is widely recognized as a symbol of academic achievement.

The Cleveland Association of Phi Beta Kappa

The Cleveland Association of Phi Beta Kappa was established in 1947 to support the ideals of the Society through academic, social, and community-based programs. The Cleveland Association draws its membership from over 3,700 residents of the Greater Cleveland area who were inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society as undergraduates. The Cleveland Association is one of over fifty similar Phi Beta Kappa associations across the country comprised of local Phi Beta Kappa members.
